FAQ

Everything you’re wondering.
Answered honestly.

Booking a boudoir session is a big step, and it’s normal to have questions. Here are the ones I hear most. If yours isn’t here, just ask.

GETTING STARTED

If you’re asking, it probably is. Most of my clients have never done a boudoir session, and many are nervous at first. You don’t need to be confident, experienced, or a certain size. You just need to be ready to see yourself differently. I’ll take care of the rest.

You’re in good company. Almost everyone who walks into my studio has a part of themselves they’d rather hide. My job is to pose and light you in a way that feels flattering and true to you. Most clients are surprised by how beautiful they look, and how comfortable they felt getting there.

I photograph women and couples, and all clients must be 21 or older. Individual sessions for men are available by approval, which helps me keep my studio a safe, comfortable space for everyone. If you’re interested, reach out and tell me a little about what you’re looking for.

I recommend booking 6 to 8 weeks ahead. That gives us time for your consultation, outfit planning, and securing your hair and makeup appointment. If you have a specific date in mind, like an anniversary or wedding, reach out as early as you can.

Yes! Gift cards are available and can be used toward a session or your images and products. A boudoir experience is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give, whether it’s for a partner, a best friend, or a new bride. Reach out, and I’ll help you put one together.

YOUR SESSION

Most sessions take place in my downtown Grand Rapids studio. I can also photograph you in your home or at a local boutique hotel for an additional fee.

Sessions last 60 to 90 minutes, depending on your session type. Hair and makeup happens beforehand.

Yes. Professional hair and makeup is included in your session fee. I’ll coordinate the date with my stylist, and she’ll reach out to you directly to plan your look.

Lingerie, bodysuits, an oversized sweater, a button-down, or something meaningful of your own all work beautifully. You’ll receive my style guide after booking, and women are welcome to borrow from my client closet. For more ideas, check out my What to Wear series on Pillow Talk.

Not at all. I’ll guide every pose, down to where your hands go and how to tilt your chin. You’ll never have to figure it out on your own.

You decide. Some clients stay fully covered in lingerie, others prefer implied nudes, and every session is built around your comfort level. We’ll talk it through during your consultation, and you can change your mind at any time. If you’re drawn to something bolder and more artistic, ask me about my After Dark sessions.

I ask that you come on your own. It might feel like a friend would help you relax, but most clients find it harder to settle in and be themselves with someone watching. Once we start, it’s just the two of us, and that’s usually when the magic happens.

Life happens. If you need to reschedule or cancel at least 5 days before your session, your retainer will be applied to a new date within the same calendar year. Cancellations or no-shows 4 or fewer days before your session forfeit the retainer. Please plan to arrive on time, since late arrivals shorten your session.

AFTER YOUR SESSION

Within a week. At your reveal and ordering appointment, we’ll look through your images together and choose the collection that feels right for you.

Yes. Every final image receives a magazine-style glam edit, with smoothed skin, softened blemishes, and a polished finish. The goal is for you to look like yourself on your very best day.

Session fees begin at $200 and include hair and makeup, your consultation, session time, and ordering appointment. Most clients invest $1,500 to $2,500 in their images and products. I offer pre-payment plans, and Afterpay is available for products.

Your finished products arrive 2 to 3 weeks after your final edits are complete.

Only you, unless you say otherwise. I never share an image online or in my marketing without your permission, and you choose exactly which images, if any, can be shared.

READY WHEN YOU ARE

You don’t have to feel ready.
